We are thrilled to welcome two outstanding professionals, Stephen Pedder and Jordan Jackson, to the Optima team. Both bring exceptional expertise and enthusiasm, and we can’t wait to see the impact they will make in their respective roles.
Stephen joins us as Business Development Manager, bringing a wealth of experience and a strong foundation in Systems Engineering. With a first-class Master’s degree in Maths and Physics, Stephen began his career as a Research Scientist at the Defence Science & Technology Laboratory (Dstl). He later transitioned to Systems Engineering at Sula Systems (now Jacobs Engineering), where he honed his skills in system analysis, interface management, and technology roadmapping through diverse projects with MOD and MBDA. His curiosity and knack for problem-solving led him into Business Development, a field he has excelled in for over a decade with a naval architecture and marine engineering consultancy. Now, Stephen is excited to return to his Systems Engineering roots, helping Optima navigate complexity and deliver successful projects.
Outside of work, Stephen enjoys traveling to new places and immersing himself in a good book, combining his love for adventure and learning.
Jordan joins Optima as a Systems Engineering Consultant, bringing over five years of hands-on experience in the field. After graduating with an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southampton, he began his career at Lockheed Martin. His journey has spanned various defence programmes across platforms and the stages of the V lifecycle. Most recently, Jordan worked in an ITEA role focusing on Merlin aircraft systems during the V&V phase, collaborating closely with suppliers and the Royal Navy on critical mission planning, data recording, and radar testing.
Jordan is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and is working towards chartership. When he is not engineering, you will find Jordan embracing the great outdoors, travelling, or indulging his passion for fitness and sports. Fresh from a three-month adventure in South America, he’s ready to bring his energy and expertise to the Optima team.
