In the quiet days of lockdown, something curious happened in our team. As many of us turned to new hobbies or let our hair grow a bit wild, one Optima legend emerged with his proud, bushy beard. But then—tragedy struck! Half of this glorious beard was mysteriously shorn, leaving him with only a single side of whiskered wisdom.
Since that fateful day, rumours have whispered that the severed half wasn’t simply swept away. Instead, it has taken on a life of its own, roaming the hills north of Bristol. They call it The Half-Beard of the North.
The Tale of the Half-Beard
Witnesses claim that on misty Bristol nights, a rustling can be heard—not in the leaves but in the air, as if something bristly and determined floats in search of its missing half. Some say the Half-Beard appears as a hovering, wild, whiskered force, fixated on finding a face to call home once more. Others have reported faint murmurs of “Oi!” from the moors, unsettling any beardless souls who venture too close.
The legend warns: should you be clean-shaven or possess a beard lacking in vigour, beware! If you sense a tickle on your cheek on a moonless night, it just might be… the Half-Beard.
From Legend to Legacy: Movember’s Call
While the Half-Beard may remain an urban legend, the real-life whiskers of our team member, Calum Fraser, have found new purpose this Movember. He, alongside his friends, shaved off every last bristle to raise awareness for men’s health. They’re embracing Movember’s mission to spark conversation and raise funds for men’s physical and mental well-being.
Optima is thrilled to support this noble cause. You can check out Calum’s Movember fundraiser on this link, where every donation helps combat some of the biggest health issues faced by men today. Whether it’s prostate cancer, mental health, or suicide prevention, every little bit contributes to change.
